In 2016 it was time to design a second cowl using my favorite Peruvian alpaca wool. I aimed for a more tailored look, and this big-relief ladder stitch fit the bill. An important part of knitwear design is matching the characteristics of the wool with desired drape and how the cowl lays against the neck. A wool with less weight will feel stiff and uncomfortable. A wool with less softness might be scratchy. This alpaca yarn is heavy and soft and rustic - perfect for this design. The linear and repetitive aspect of the design inspired me to name it NEVE, which is "even" spelled backwards.
The following colors are undyed, naturally blended alpaca colors: slate, cinnamon and toffee. Good for you, good for the environment!
A color note; slate is an undyed natural alpaca blend and because of that has no blue tones, just grey with a hint of a brown undertone. I think it is quite similar to the Peruvian highland wool color I call gunmetal.
